The City of Kansas City's hotel tax guide says hotels and motels pay a 7.5% convention and tourism tax on sleeping-room charges, and arena fees charged to the guest are subject to the same 7.5%. Sales tax is separate (the Missouri Department of Revenue lists a 4.225% state rate, and local taxes add), and the arena fee is $1.50 per room daily on the city page, while a city ordinance summary said $3.00 from August 2023. We could not verify St. Louis or any other city's lodging total. The calculator below applies only the 7.5% tax, so treat its total as a floor.

Kansas City hotel-tax calculator (convention and tourism tax, 7.5%)

This calculator applies Kansas City's 7.5% convention and tourism tax on sleeping-room charges, as read on the city's hotel tax guide on October 20, 2026. It does not include state and local sales tax, the per-room daily arena fee, resort or service fees or parking, so your actual total will be higher. Stays of more than 31 days in a quarter are treated differently. Use it only for Kansas City stays. Ask your hotel for its all-in rate.
